Martial arts practitioners and enthusiasts will gather in Lompoc, California, for the 2026 Butokuden Winery Gasshuku, a two-day training event scheduled for August 1–2. The program combines intensive dojo practice with an evening social gathering at a local vineyard, offering participants an opportunity to develop their skills while connecting with fellow practitioners in a relaxed setting.
The gasshuku will begin on Saturday, August 1, with the dojo opening at 12:00 p.m. at the Lompoc Recreational Center, located at 125 W. Walnut, Lompoc, CA 93436. Formal training will take place from 12:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., featuring several hours of practice designed for participants of varying experience levels.
Following the afternoon session, attendees will continue the event with a Wine and BBQ gathering beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Slay Estate Vineyard, located at 6635 East Highway 246, Lompoc, CA 93436. The evening reception will provide an opportunity for participants to socialize, share experiences, and enjoy the vineyard’s scenic setting after a full day of training.

The second day of the gasshuku will take place on Sunday, August 2. The dojo will open at 9:30 a.m., with the final practice session scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will officially conclude following the completion of Sunday’s training.
Registration Fees
The dojo rental fee has been set at $10 for adult participants, while full-time students and individuals aged 18 and under may attend the training sessions free of charge.
Participation in the Saturday evening BBQ and Wine gathering is available for an additional fee. Adult admission is $50, while full-time students and participants aged 18 and under may attend for $15.
